School Transit LLC (“School Transit,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides safe, reliable student transportation services in the Kansas City metropolitan area and surrounding communities. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have, including how we handle phone numbers and text-message (SMS) consent.
By using our website, our parent and driver applications, or our SMS messaging program, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1 Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to schedule, operate, and communicate about student transportation. This includes:
- Contact details — names, mobile phone numbers, and email addresses of parents, guardians, school staff, dispatchers, and drivers.
- Trip information — pickup and drop-off addresses, schedules, route assignments, and trip status (e.g., en route, arrived, completed).
- Student information — a student’s first name or initials and assigned trip details, provided by parents, guardians, or partner schools/agencies, solely to deliver transportation.
- Location data — real-time GPS location of our vehicles during active trips, used for live tracking and safety.
- Account & usage data — login identifiers and basic technical information (such as device type and app activity) when you use our applications or website.
2 How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Schedule, dispatch, and operate student transportation trips.
- Provide real-time trip tracking and status to authorized parents, guardians, and schools.
- Send service and operational text messages and notifications (see Section 3).
- Respond to questions and provide customer support.
- Maintain safety, prevent fraud or misuse, and meet legal and contractual obligations.
3 SMS / text messaging & consent
With your consent, School Transit sends SMS text messages related to our transportation service — for example, trip confirmations, pickup and drop-off notifications, schedule or route changes, driver coordination, and account or service updates. Consent to receive these messages is not a condition of using our services or of any purchase.
Message frequency varies based on trip activity. Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier’s plan. You can opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP, and you can request help by replying HELP. Full details are in our SMS Terms and Conditions.
No mobile information — including your phone number, SMS opt-in, and consent — will be shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes at any time. Mobile opt-in data and consent are excluded from all information-sharing described in this policy.
The phone numbers we obtain through the SMS consent process are used solely to deliver the messages you have agreed to receive. We do not share text-messaging originator opt-in data or consent with any third parties.
5 Children’s & student information
School Transit serves elementary, middle, and high school students, but our accounts and SMS program are intended for adults — parents, guardians, school staff, and drivers. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children. Limited student details (such as a first name and trip schedule) are provided to us by responsible adults or partner schools strictly to arrange transportation, are used only for that purpose, and are protected as described in this policy. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, please contact us so we can remove it.
6 Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed to provide our services, meet our legal, safety, and contractual obligations, and resolve disputes. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
7 Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to those who need it to do their jobs.
8 Your choices & rights
- Text messages: reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for assistance.
- Access & updates: you may ask us to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you.

To exercise any of these choices, contact us using the details in Section 11.
10 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through our website or other appropriate means. Your continued use of our services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
